This book puts in perspective how traumatic experiences really impact our day to day lives on a holistic scale. Mind you, this holds some intensity, however it is extremely worthwhile for those on the journey towards healing. 

The Outliers: The Story of Success

This was the first reading Joe voluntarily gravitated towards during grad school years. It is full of inspiring stories and insights about perseverance. He breaks down theories we can incorporate in our lives. It is a great read that gets you thinking about the world and yourself. 

Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?

This book explains the development of racial identity and provides innovative ways to begin conversations about race. The author argues that straight talk about racial identities is essential to enable communication across racial and ethnic divides. This is an important read extremely relative to our time.
